Lecture: African Americans and Eminent Domain in Falls Church

  • Mary Riley Styles Public Library 120 North Virginia Avenue Falls Church, VA, 22046 United States (map)

Local historian Edwin Henderson will give a talk on how the land of prominent Falls Church African Americans was seized for the construction of Lee Highway in the early twentieth century. Using old land records and maps, Henderson will paint a picture of Falls Church’s African American community at the turn of the century and describe how Falls Church’s use of eminent domain affected the community.
